Pay for your books!

My friend Adam Deutsch of Cooper Dillon Books has a post on selling books of poetry.

My favorite part(s):

Shouldn't the sale of books keep their books in print?

and from Gandhi:

Institutions maintained on permanent funds are often found to ignore public opinion, and are frequently responsible for acts contrary to it.

Happy reading!

It's not clear to me why poetry doesn't sell better. Stadiums fill with musicians present, and some music approaches the divine and can support not only the singer but an entire orchestra and others. Even classical music:

I do think poetry can handle this kind of emotion, but maybe too few people like reading, and if they do, they want murder mysteries. I don't know why.

Poetry can't deliver that kind of emotion if it is caught up upon itself in surrealistic (to use your favorite) or other avant-garde work--it's got to be readable by the folks who like reading.

I thought if something is getting sales then it will continue to be supported. If doesn't get sales/funding then it will die out. That is how the world of business usually is.
